The purpose of sealing the interior is to ensure that no wood is exposed anywhere in the board. This prevents moisture from destroying the integrity of the frame or strip planking.
In the videos attached, Randy notes his preference for thinning epoxy to a 1:1 ratio using denatured alcohol for the purpose of interior sealing.
