The Downwind 14 is designed to surf downwind runs in most any downwind conditions. The Dwonwind 14 will accommodate paddlers up to 200 pounds and is responsive even for lighter weight paddlers. The finished weight of the Downwind 14 will vary depending on the materials used and building techniques employed. Most all of the prototype boards I build using all paulownia wood construction weigh approximately the same or slightly less than many production foam and fiberglass boards of the same size.
We have also used the Downwind 14 for casual touring as well as downwind bump riding. If you typically paddle upwind on a regular basis, then this is not the best choice. If you have questions about whether this board is right for you, please feel free to contact us.
If you’re on a tight budget we have an option for you. You can build from our full size templates and cut all the parts yourself.
